What could be more rewarding to parents than to see their kids succeed in whatever paths they have chosen to take in life?
Although a bit careful every time he is asked about his family, 51-year-old comedian-TV host Jose Manalo shared how he is doing in terms of being a dad to his kids, who had since then lived apart with his wife Anna Lyn Manalo after they chose to live separately.
He started off by saying: “Ayoko pa, kasi hindi pa masyado maayos lahat,” as per a story by PEP. [I still don’t want (to talk about it), because things are not that okay yet.]
Talking about his kids, Manalo said: “Maganda naman ang takbo nila, maganda ang takbo ko.” [They are doing fine, I’m doing fine.]
The comedian revealed that his communication with his kids has been constant and this, to him, is what matters most. He also expressed hope that in God’s time and according to his will, everything will be alright.
Manalo is currently working on the promotion of his movie titled “Trip Ubusan: The Lolas vs. Zombies”; and during the press con of the movie on Wednesday, November 15, held at Matrix Creation Events Center, Quezon City, he talked more about how proud he is of his kids who have each made their own takes on success.
The latest: His daughter Myki is now a doctor after passing the licensure exam.
“Siyempre, para makapagpatapos ka ng isang bata, kahit hindi nila ako kasama, pero ipinakita nila na ‘yung taong nagpapaaral sa amin, bibigyan namin ng karangalan. Nakakatuwa ‘yun,” he said.
[Of course, to have a child graduate, even though we’re not together, but still they showed that the person who supported our school, let’s give back honor. That is joyous.]
Manalo shared he had talked to Myki, saying: “Oo, nagkausap na kami. Siya raw ang gagamot sa akin. Gagamutin niya raw ako.” [Yes, we had talked. She said she’ll be the one to give me medical treatment. She will be the one to treat me.]
Myki earned a degree in Psychology at De La Salle University Manila in 2012, and finished Doctor of Medicine at the Far Eastern University-Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation (FEU-NRMF) Institute of Medicine.
His daughter is not the only one among his children who has achieved something on their own as his two sons Nicco and Benj have also begun to make a name in showbiz, following the footsteps of their dad.
Manalo shared that he’s happy with what the two have so far achieved and disclosed that from the very start, he had made it clear to them that he would not help them enter showbiz; instead wanted them to do it on their own — as what he did with himself.
Despite their family set-up, the comedian sees to it that he spends quality time with his kids from time to time and that he hopes for nothing but the best for them.
