MANILA, Philippines – Maria Isabel Lopez’s daughter, Mara, has come to the defense of her mother following the ASEAN lane breach which caused an uproar on social media and even prompted the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to summon the veteran actress.
In her Facebook account, Mara said she had no idea about the recent controversy her mother was in since she was not in Manila until she received a text message from former “Pinoy Big Brother” (PBB) housemate and disc jockey Rico Robles.
“I get a text this morning from Rico Robles “your mom is thug life!” I had no idea what was going on. I’m in baler and my phone has been ringing all morning asking for a statement, “ Mara wrote in Facebook.
Mara admitted she’s not really sure what people expected her to say about her mother’s ASEAN lane brouhaha because she wasn’t there.
Nevertheless, Mara defended Maria Isabel; saying she’s her mother no matter what and she loves her.
“And anyone that knows my mom knows she will do her own thing no matter what. We may not always agree, but she’s my mom and I love her. I got your back mama,” she said.
Maria Isabel’s video where she admitted removing the traffic divider cones before using the ASEAN lane went viral on social and drew flak from netizens.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has recommended the revocation of Lopez’s driving license for the infraction and threatened to file charges against the actress who has since apologized for the incident.
On Monday, LTO said it has summoned the former beauty queen through a ‘show cause’ order, demanding an explanation from Lopez why her driver’s license should not be revoked nor suspended for ‘blatant violation’ of traffic rules and regulations.
