The legendary rock icon Pepe Smith was reportedly rushed to the hospital during the early hours of November 15.

He apparently suffered a stroke and was rushed to the stroke unit of the Metro Antipolo Hospital.

Joey “Pepe” Smith, who had been dubbed as the inventor and symbol of Pinoy rock, is 69 years old.

His music promoter Dudee Alfonso told the Inquirer that Smith was already in the car after spending a night with host Willie Revillame in Antipolo. Suddenly, Smith started complaining about his tongue and signaled that he couldn’t speak.

Smith was immediately rushed to the Metro Antipolo Hospital where he was moved to the stroke unit.

The hospital already confirmed with ABS-CBN that Smith’s vital signs are now stable but still has to be assessed by a neurologist and other doctors.

The Rock and Roll King is turning 70 years old this coming December. This also marks his third stroke since 2016. He is supposedly set to perform for his Pepe Smith Rock Concert on November 18.

Pepe Smith was part of the legendary Juan dela Cruz Band of the 70’s that brought iconic rock songs such as “ Beep Beep” and “Balong Malalim.”
