A Qatar Airways flight traveling from Doha to Bali, Indonesia was forced to make an emergency landing in India after a fight broke out between an Iranian couple in midair.

The couple were reportedly on a holiday trip with their kids to Bali last weekend when the wife discovered her husband was having an extra-marital affair.

According to the Hindustan Times, the husband was asleep when the woman, who had been drinking, started tinkering with his phone. She managed to unlock the phone using his thumb print and was shocked to discover evidence of her husband’s infidelity.

The wife reportedly started hitting her husband and a scuffle between the two erupted. This prompted the cabin crew to intervene to pacify her, but the wife just won’t listen.

The flight had to be diverted to Chennai, India where the couple were eventually offloaded for ‘misbehaving’ before the plane continued its journey to Bali.

“The incident took place on Sunday morning. The Qatar Airways flight QR-962 (Doha-Bali) was diverted to Chennai after the pilot requested for it citing unruly passenger on board as reason. The woman and her husband along with their child were offloaded and the flight departed for Bali,” said an officer from Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) In Chennai.

The couple were questioned and had to undergo “intense security scrutiny” because they didn’t have Indian visa. They were finally allowed to fly to Kuala Lumpur via a Batik Air flight hours later, reports said.

Meanwhile, Qatar Airways said in a statement: “In respect of passenger privacy we do not comment on individual cases.”
