A technology company official is urging the country to invest more robotic programs to be integrated on schools to encourage students, specially the young ones to take up science, engineering and technology courses.
Vice president of Data Science and Technology Corp, Pinky Legaspi thanked robotic programs in schools as she said more Filipino students in elementary and secondary are now showing interest in technology; yet she added that more has to be done.
If Filipino kids are given sufficient support and assistance, it is more likely that they too would be able to compete and win in international robot competitions, Legaspi said speaking to ANC’s Future Perfect Tech Shorts, as disclosed in ABS-CBN.
She also gave recognition to Filipino kids who built and programmed robots for the recent World Robot Games in Singapore, as they undeniably were able to showcase their creativity.
“In the competition, we had about 15 innovators. They created robot projects that are for military, that are for home use, some are for medical purposes,” Legaspi said.
The next World Robot Games will be in October 2018, to be held in the Philippines.
