Two names surface as ‘persons of interest’ in bank employee rape-slay

The police are now looking for the two ‘persons of interest’ suspected of being involved in rape and murder of a bank employee in Pasig City.

Eastern Police District (EPD) director Chief Supt. Romulo Sapitula told Inquirer the driver of the bus, Randy Oavenada, 35 is now considered a person of interest along with Diolan Asibuchi, an auto mechanic, for “inconsistent statements”.

Pasig police chief, Senior Supt. Orlando Yebra Jr., said Oavenade and Asibuchi were released after being questioned by the police. But they have been warned not to leave their houses.

Mabel Cama was a bank employee, and a resident of Ortigas Avenue Extension, in Brgy. Rosario, Pasig City.

The burned and naked corpse of Cama was discovered at around 12:20 pm Sunday afternoon inside an abandoned building; just  a hundred meters away from their home located at the compound of the Mega Bus Line Terminal, which was a former impounding area of the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

According to Barangay Rosario Executive Officer Floriezel Santos, the neighbors said they last saw Cama around 11 pm on Friday.

The police are still waiting for the results of the autopsy and genital examination to determine if it will match Asibuche’s, one of the suspects.
