As Miley Cyrus and U2 have done well before them, Adam Levine and James Valentine of the pop group Maroon 5 gave a short surprise performance on Tuesday in the New York subway with Jimmy Fallon.

Levine and Fallon, joined by Maroon 5 lead guitarist Valentine, donned hats, shades and impressive hipster beards. They first performed the popular Queen’s 1979 song hit “Crazy Little Thing Called Love.” Fallon provided a tambourine beat and a dose of harmonica, while Valentine played acoustic guitar.

The disguise worked pretty well because most onlookers were shocked when the musicians ripped off their disguises and played an acoustic version of Maroon 5’s “Sugar.”

The Adam Levine-fronted band’s sixth studio album ‘Red Pill Blues’ was released earlier this month. In promotion of their latest album, they joined Fallon in an undercover online clip for The Tonight Show.
