Big companies have already started submitting their proposals to build the Clark International Airport expansion.

The project is valued at P12.55 billion and will greatly increase the airport’s capacity from 4 million to 12 million passengers annually. The Duterte administration aims for the expansion project to be finished by 2020.

Joshua Bingcang, chair of the BCDA special bids and awards committee (SBAC) has expressed his satisfaction with the turnout of the bidders. He told Inquirer, “This is a relatively high number for us.”

Among those who submitted the bidding were Chinese companies such as the China State Construction Engineering Corp. Ltd., China Harbour Engineering Co. Ltd., Sinohydro Corp. Limited, DDT Konstract, Inc., R-II Builders, Inc., and Tokwing Construction Corp.

The expansion project will be among the first “hybrid public-private partnership” under the Duterte administration.

The government will fund or finance the project while the private partner will be responsible for operations and maintenance.
