A female Egyptian singer was sentenced to two years in prison for supposedly ‘inciting debauchery’ in her raunchy video where she was seen eating a banana and an apple while dancing in an underwear inside a classroom.

According to Gulf News, the Misdemeanour Court in the Cairo quarter of Al Nuzah sentenced pop singer Shyma to two years in prison plus a fine of 10,000 Egyptian pounds.

Her performance was part of the controversial video “I have problem” which sparked outrage among Egyptian netizens for its suggestive content.

Aside from eating banana before a group of male audience, Shyma, whose real name Shaima Ahmad, is also seen scribbling suggestive words on the board.

The video drew flak from some conservative politicians and members of the parliament and even sparked a debate on national television.

“The content of the video clip is harmful to the Egyptian society. There must be a firm stance against promoters of this substandard art,” said Jalal Awara, a member of the parliament.

Last November, Shyma was also arrested and detained for a few days over the same charges.
