Unknown to many, actress Sanya Lopez was a beauty queen before she became the queen of Encantadia.
In an article written by Jojo Gabinete of PEP, it was disclosed that Lopez joined a beauty pageant before and she was also trained at the training camp Aces & Queens, which is managed by Jonas Gaffud. To note, a number of Filipina beauty queens were trained here, including Pia Wurtzbach (Miss Universe 2015), Megan Young (Miss World 2013), Venus Raj (Miss Universe 2010 4th runner-up), Shamcey Supsup (Miss Universe 2011 3rd runner-up), Janine Tugonon (Miss Universe 2012 1st runner-up), Ara Arida (Miss Universe 2013 3rd runner-up), and Gwen Ruais (Miss World 2011 First Princess).
Her training lasted for a few days.
[I was trained at Aces & Queens before I started playing my role in Encantadia. But then, I was asked about my priority — whether it it being an actress or being a beauty queen — as the two are different. I was enrolled there to build up my confidence because I was too shy back then.]
Lopez rose to fame after successfully playing the role of Danaya in the Encantadia requel (retelling plus sequel).
Before Encantadia, she joined the Reyna ng Aliwan 2014 and won. She used her real name, Shaira Lenn Roberto.
Ang nanalo, Cebu,” she recalled.
[I joined a pageant when I was already part of the GMA-7 series Half Sisters. I won in the Reyna ng Aliwan 2014, I was crowned the first runner-up. The candidate from Cebu got the Reyna ng Aliwan title.]
[Competing there was hard, they were all good, and I was really nervous. They just persuade me to join because Bulacan has no representative that time.]
