MANILA, Philippines – The police officers who helped the female passenger who lost her arm during an accident at the MRT Ayala Station last month will be receiving the Bayani Award from the Kabayan Partylist.

Kabayan Rep. Ron Salo said in a statement to GMA News that they will honor Police Officer II Danilo Agustin and Police Officer I Ramil Almano who came to the aid of Angeline Fernando; the passenger whose arm was severed and later re-attached following the accident.

“Quick thinking, clear decisions, and calmness in a critical situation were in full display that day at the MRT 3. Those qualities exemplify what the Emergency Medical Services System bill (HB 4955) seeks to achieve,” said Salo.

Both Agustin and Almano will receive the Kabayan Bayani Award plaque plus cash rewards, according to Salo.

The ceremony will be held at Eastern Police District (EPD) Headquarters, Caruncho Avenue, Malinao, Pasig City on Monday morning, December 4, around 7am.

Charleanne Jandic, the medical intern who also assisted Fernando, earlier received the same recognition from Kabayan.

The three were among the firsts to respond and give the victim first aid before rushing her to Makati Medical Center where Fernando underwent surgery to reconnect her severed arm.

Jandic’s heroism motivates Salo to rename his proposed law, the Emergency Medical Services System Bill to “Charlie Jandic Law”, but the former declined; saying she simply did what everyone would have done in her place at that time.
