ABS-CBN recently revealed their upcoming shows including Lizquen’s Bagani. The fantaserye stars one of the hottest Kapamilya loveteam, Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil. Netizens have already started comparing Bagani to GMA’s Encantadia; stating that it even features the “elemental” theme that Enca is known for.

Suzette Doctolero, GMA consultant and headwriter of the hit teleserye Encantadia shared her opinion on the comparison. She replied on Twitter, “Hahaha. Funny ka. May binago naman sila ah. Yung naka-violet. ‘Di sa enca ginaya. Pang-circus ang costume. Haha” [You’re so funny. They did change something, the one in violet. That’s not from Enca. That’s from a circus costume. Haha]

Mark Duane Angos, the head of ABS-CBN’s Star Creatives, responsible for hit teleseryes like Dolce Amore and Forevermore, couldn’t help but respond. He tweeted, “I think you should get out of this ‘originality discourse’ especially if you’re the one who copied CW’s Arrow. My friendly advice, focus on stories you’re writing. I’m sure there’s a lot of B-actors from Game of Thrones who can cameo on your next show.”

Doctolero was once called out by netizens after Arrow actor Stephen Amell posted on his Facebook a trailer of Alyas Robin Hood with a shocked emoji.

Doctolero replied to Angos, “Ay Arrow talaga? Bobo hahaha.”

Angos described Doctolero as a “nuisance.” He said, “She’s a nuisance in our small community of writers, tolerated in the spirit of ‘paggalang sa nakakatanda.’ Friends from GMA also believe in a diverse & dynamic TV landscape- supporting & learning from each other. Network war is an illusion propagated by those stuck in the past.”

In the heat of a Twitter war with netizens already choosing sides, Doctolero admitted that her comment was made in jest. “Actually di mainit ang ulo ko. Haha. At wala ako comment din sa earth wind fire ek ek kahit gamitin pa lahat element. Joke yung sinabi ko about the costume. 🙂 wag seryusohin haha.” [don’t have any comment about the earth wind fire even if they use all the element. It was only a joke what I said about the costume. Don’t take it seriously.]

Angos also responded with the #JustLove hashtag, “We’re in the business of entertainment, bringing happiness kahit saglit lang to our audience. If someone is happy believing her work is being copied, ibigay na natin. The world is a better place now w/ one less lonely person, or in this case, one less lonely writer. #JustLove

Bagani is set to replace Ang Probinsiyano next year.
