Mark “The Spark” Caguioa, the shooting guard of Barangay Ginebra San Miguel of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), and his teammates cheered up an ailing 93-year-old avid fan of the team.
Wearing a red Ginebra t-shirt and a cap inscribed with “never say die” and “1979” (the year Ginebra, then called La tondeña, Inc., joined the PBA), Sesinando Gonzaga or “Lolo Narding” on Thursday, November 30, went with his relatives to the Upper Deck Gym in Pasig City where the players of the PBA’s most popular basketball team were practicing.
According to Spin, Mark Caguioa was the first player who approached Lolo Narding. He gave the old man a shorts and a jersey and posed for photos before signing Lolo Narding’s t-shirt.
Jiven, Lolo Narding’s grandson, said his lolo was a fan of Ginebra since the time of Robert Jaworski, the PBA’s “Living Legend.”
Caguioa’s teammates Sol Mercado, L.A. Tenorio and Scottie Thompson also posed for pictures with Lolo Narding.
