- PO3 Eleazar Tero, one of the six policemen charged with killing a 64-year-old woman, took his own life via hanging
- Police are investigating what caused Tero to take his life
A police charged with killing an elderly woman took his own life through hanging, a Bombo Radyo posted.
Ormoc City Police Station 1’s PO3 Eleazar Tero took his life at their house in Barangay Curva this week.
P/Supt. Carlito Gallardo, acting OIC, said they are still investigating the reason that caused him to end his own life; adding there’s no foul play.
Tero was among the six policemen facing murder complaints after the death of 64-year-old Lorna Soza on August 11.
Soza was accused of stealing a smartphone, but asked for forgiveness and offered the Php10,300.00 on her wallet to pay the gadget.
The woman was identified via security camera footage.
Despite having no formal complaint, the policemen opted not to release her.
Five days following Soza’s arrest, she was reportedly removed from her cell prison and forced into a police vehicle before dawn as per an Inquirer story.
The next day, the woman was found dead on a grassy lot in the village of Naghain in Kanaga town wrapped in packaging tape.
A gunshot wound disfigured her face.
