Gay adoption remains controversial yet it is becoming more and more common. However, Vice Ganda, a famous gay icon in the country, seems to have a different point of view regarding child adoption.

In an interview at the press conference of “Gandarrapiddo: The Revenger Squad“, the 41-year old celebrity admitted he doesn’t want to adopt a child.

Oftentimes, people adopt because they want someone to take care of them when they grow old. On the other hand, Vice doesn’t want to adopt a child for the exact reason.

He thought that it is quite selfish to adopt someone just for that person to take care of you when you become old. Vice said that it is better if people would adopt because they want to experience how it feels to be a parent rather than to adopt for that person to be your caregiver when you get older and becomes unable to take care of yourself.

Even though Vice has a soft spot for kids, a story by ABS CBN disclosed that he still doesn’t want to adopt a child at this point in his life. He doesn’t want to oblige anyone to take care of him. What he will do instead is save some money for his retirement and pay professional caregivers to take care of him. He is also pretty sure that his siblings, nephews and niece will take good care of him.

The Kapamilya star also mentioned that as of the moment the Filipinos aren’t ready yet for LGBT adoption. Because of this, he doesn’t want to subject a particular child to this situation. He doesn’t want the kid to get discriminated or bullied for having a gay parent.

Another interesting thing that Vice revealed in the press conference is that he once thought of having his own child; however, he now thought that it is already too late for his age.
