Amores said that when the fire started, James' siblings were outside playing. There was no sign of James' grandma or his other siblings. James' uncle Benjie was at a town fiesta when the tragedy occurred.
Later in the afternoon, when Benjie arrived home, he was horrified to see the catastrophe. According to the preliminary inquiry, a short circuit may have started the fire, and the house's flammable items contributed to its rapid spread.
