- NCRPO Chief Director Oscar Albayalde said the pay hike should motivate cops to stay away from corruption
- The salaries of cops with the rank of Police Officers 1 are doubled
- The salary increase took effect on January 1, 2018
National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Director Oscar Albayalde said the pay hike for police officers and other uniformed personnel should motivate them to stay away from corruption.
Joint Resolution No. 1 signed by President Rodrigo Duterte authorizing the increase in base pay of military and uniformed personnel in the government took effect on the first day of January 2018, according to GMA News.
Under the resolution, policemen with the rank of Police Officers 1 will now receive a base pay of P29, 668, double the previous monthly basic pay. Salaries of cops holding higher ranks are not doubled, but were increased.
“Siguro naman po ‘yan ay isang magandang motivation na para sa ating mga kapulisan na talagang ‘di na gagawa ng katiwalian o kung anumang kalokohan,” Albayalde said in an interview.
[I’m sure it’s a good motivation for our police officers to shun corruption or any other foolishness]
