HBO said Game of Thrones fans will have to wait until 2019 to see the eighth and final season of the show.
Fans of the hit show – starring Emilia Clarke, Peter Dinklage and Gwendoline Christie – will have to wait a whole year to know the conclusion of the quest for the Iron Throne.
However, there is no specific date as to when the final season will air.
HBO said in a statement: “Game Of Thrones will return for its six episode, eighth and final season in 2019.”
Directors David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, David Nutter and Miguel Sapochnik are confirmed to return for season eight, but none of the casting has been revealed.
The show, which was based on the novels by George R. R. Martin, has seen a series of deaths of major characters over the past seven seasons, along with surprise returns.
This GOT fan had something to say about the gap year. Guess we have to wait for a year.
