2NE1, the iconic South Korean girl group, was a worldwide phenomenon during their time.
YG Entertainment launched the group in 2009 and was well-received by many. They often topped music charts with their smash hit songs like “Fire”, “I Don’t Care”, “I am the Best” and many others. The K-pop girl group members consisted of CL, Minzy, Dara and Bom.
The group remained intact for 7 years; however, on November 25, 2016 the group was disbanded.
According to a story by Koreaboo, Park Bom was the main reason why the group had to be disbanded by YG Entertainment despite its maintained popularity. The Korean singer Park Bom contract with the entertainment company was no longer renewed because of her mental health conditions.
It could be recalled that the singer’s dependence on a certain drug that is illegal in South Korea was highly publicized and criticized by many.
For a little over a year after the group was disbanded, 2NE1 members still gave their fans some updates of their whereabouts on their social media accounts.
At present, both ‘CL’ or Chaelin Lee and ‘Dara’ or better known in the Philippines as Sandara Park, are still being managed by the same agency.
CL pursued her solo singing career and performs both in South Korea and the US. Just this January, she is currently busy filming her upcoming American film “Mile 22” which is set to be released this 2018. The film includes some of Hollywood’s action stars including Mark Wahlberg and mixed-martial artist/actress Ronda Rousey.
On the other hand, Minzy, the youngest member in the group chose to be a solo artist too but she no longer renewed her contract with YG. Her stage name now is Minzy Kong.
Park Bom has not been out in the limelight for a while but the vocalist was last seen posting her new hairstyle on Instagram on November 7, 2017. She captioned the photo with this message: “It’s me, Park Bom. It’s been awhile, right? Just took this photo. I also want to take pictures with pretty clothes now. I miss you, my fans, goodnight.”
Lastly, Dara or Sandara Park continues to work for YG as an actress in Korean dramas. She also frequently visits Manila for singing and modeling engagements. On December 3, 2017, Dara performed in a concert sponsored by Penshoppe, a clothing brand, and graced Cosmopolitan Philippines Cover November 2017 issue.
