- Despite getting a lot of negative reviews and being mocked as “ 2017 worst movie”, the film Bright will have its sequel
- Will Smith will still be the lead actor in the film, as Daryl Ward, an LAPD cop who fights mythical creatures in Los Angeles
- Netflix decided to produce a sequel for the movie as it was the most viewed movie during the first week of its release and tops the rank of Netflix Film releases internationally
The highly-budgeted film first made a headline due to its extravagant production cost of $90-Million US Dollars.
However, movie critics bashed Netflix’s thriller-fantasy movie Bright upon its release in December 2017.
Forbes, for instance, described the film as “visually grotesque, dull and stereotypical would-be franchise action movie…”
‘Bright‘ revolves around the life of two LAPD Police Officers who fight against mythical creatures like orcs, elves and fairies in a Los Angeles setting.

Daryl Ward, the lead actor in the story, was played by Will Smith. He and his partner, an orc named Nick Jakoby, played by Joel Edgerton, battled against forces of evil in the city.
Netflix decided to produce a sequel for the movie probably because, to date, it is the most viewed movie during the first week of its release and tops the rank of Netflix Film releases internationally.
The movie’s theme contains anti-bullying and anti-racial discrimination messages, according to the two lead actors.
The sequel will still be directed by David Ayer and the lead roles will still be played by Will Smith and Joel Edgerton.
