MANILA, Philippines  – A Cebu town vice mayor, who is also the lawyer of suspected drug lord Kerwin Espinosa, was shot d**d by assassins shortly after attending the hearing of his client on Monday, February 19.

Ronda Vice Mayor Jonah John Ungab was k****d after 2 gunmen shot him while inside the vehicle along S. Osmeña Street in Cebu City. He had just came from a court hearing related to his client’s case before he was k****d around 11:30 am.

According to ABS-CBN News, they managed to interview Ungab before the hearing and said he was able to secure a certification from the Firearms Explosives Security Service Agency and Guards Supervisory Section (FESSAGS) in Central Visayas showing Kerwin Espinosa had license for his firearms.

“The police did not inform the court [that Espinosa] has a license[d] firearm. We were able to secure a certification from FESSAGS during that time,” ABS-CBN News quoted him as saying in an interview about an hour prior to the shooting.

Ungab, who is also the legal counsel for Kenneth Dong, the controversial Chinese national implicated in the P6.4-B s***u shipment, sustained 2 gunshot wounds to his head.

He was driving his Suzuki Ciaz car from Qimonda Building Complex and was about to make a right turn when the motorcycle-riding assassins attacked. His wife was reportedly with him in the vehicle but is unharmed.

Ungab was rushed to a private hospital in Mandaue City but was declared d**d at 2:00 pm.

Meanwhile, Cebu officials were shocked at Ungab’s murder and demanded investigation for the immediate arrest of the killers.

“I am shocked by the violent d***h of Ronda Vice Mayor John Ungab. My sincerest condolence to his family. I strongly urge our law enforcers to bring those responsible to justice,” said Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III in a statement.
