Kapuso actor Martin del Rosario disclosed he was shocked after knowing Mark Bautista came out of the closet via the book Beyond the Mark, and said it was a huge move.

PEP quoted the actor saying, “Nagulat. Nagulat kasi malaking move iyon, eh, Lalo na sa Philippines kasi ‘di ba, ‘pag gay ka… hindi tulad sa ibang [bansa], kasi mas conservative. So nagulat ako.”

[I was shocked because that’s a huge move, especially in the Philippines where people have a very conservative culture.]

Martin said if that’s what makes Mark happy, so be it.

On writing his own memoir, he said he never imagined himself writing one as he is not good in words.

The actor is among the cast of the upcoming GMA Afternoon Prime soap Hindi Ko Kayang Iwan Ka, playing Lawrence De Leon.

He, in addition, plays a gay role in the film Born Beautiful — a spin-off of Paolo Ballesteros’ award-winning D*e Beautiful.

In the movie, Martin will be having a kissing scene and love scene with one of his leading men Akihiro Blanco.

“First time ko makipaghalikan at makipag-love scene sa lalaki, kaya ang dami kong firsts dito sa Born Beautiful,” he said as per LionhearTV.

[It’s my first time to have a kissing scene and love scene with a man, that is why I have many firsts in Born Beautiful.]

Martin is a Filipino actor and model, who started from ABS-CBN then moved to GMA-7, and  among his notable works include Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin, Pintada, and Buena Familia.
