- The victim was identified as Adelina from Medan, Indonesia

Malaysia is a magnet for migrant workers, but in the past few years, the country had been reported to have had a series of cases involving maltreatment of domestic workers, some even leading to deaths, according to DailyMail.
Malaysian siblings, 36-year-old employer and her 39-year-old brother, have been arrested as suspects for the death of a young Indonesian maid who was allegedly abused by them in Taman Kota Permai, Malaysia, police said on Monday, February 11.
The victim was identified by the police as 21-year-old Adelina from Medan, Indonesia, who came to Malaysia to work as a maid about two years ago.
A day before she died, rescuers attempted to save the victim. She was seen sitting on the porch beside a black Rottweiler.
Adelina, as per reports, only glanced at them and shook her head because she was too terrified to respond to them.
One of the rescuers, Por Cheng Han, 29, said neighbours told them that Adelina had been forced to sleep with the Rottweiler on the porch for over a month.
“We arrived and saw her on the porch. She did not respond to us and just shook her head,” he said. “We spoke to the neighbours, who told us they often heard the employer scolding her loudly from inside the house.” .
The Indonesian maid passed away on Sunday, February 11, at the Bukit Mertajam Hospital where she was admitted after her employers took her to the police station on Saturday night, February 10.
“Attempts to record her statement when she was still alive were not successful as she was still in fear,” local police chief Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said. Apparently, there was swelling on her head and face as well as injuries on her arms and legs.
Nik Ros also revealed that the siblings are now currently under investigation over the alleged abuse of the maid.
