- The Filipina whose body was found in a freezer has been identified
- She is an overseas Filipino worker from Iloilo
- Authorities are now hunting her employer who is considered as the main suspect in the crime
KUWAIT – The overseas Filipino worker (OFW) whose body was found inside a freezer in an abandoned apartment in Kuwait has been identified.
According to Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III, a DNA test conducted on the remains identified the victim as Joanna Daniela Dimapilis, an OFW from Sara, Iloilo.
Authorities found out Dimapilis worked for a Lebanese man whose wife is a Syrian. The couple used to rent the apartment where the body was discovered.
The couple left the premises about a year ago after the owner evicted them for not paying the rent. The body is believed to have been kept in the freezer for about a year before it was discovered recently.
There were signs of strangulation on the body, authorities said, which may have been the cause of death. Dimapilis is said to have gone missing for two days before the couple left the country in 2016.
The Lebanese man, who is Dimapilis sponsor, is also wanted for other cases including bounced checks.
Authorities in Kuwait have sought the help of the Interpol to locate the man who is now being considered the suspect in the crime.
