KZ Tandingan successfully made it to “Singer 2018” as a regular contender after securing her spot as 3rd placer. She did not fail to meet people’s high expectations in her every performance.

After beating her idol, Jessie J, with her trending rendition of Adelle’s ‘Rolling in the Deep”, she moved the Chinese audience to tears by singing a Mandarin love song titled “The Hurts You Never Knew”.

Though KZ did not make it to the top in her second performance, the singer was still able to impress everyone, especially the show’s producer who wanted her to sing another Mandarin song; moving forward onto her next battle.

“Dahil nga natuwa sila Kuya MJ, kanta daw uli ako ng Mandarin. Nawili!” she disclosed. [Because MJ and the others were delighted, they want me to sing another Mandarin song again. They got so engrossed!]

KZ also shared how she prepared for the piece.

“Meron din akong mga Mandarin coaches dun, dito din sa Pilipinas meron. So nung umuwi ako, meron din dito. Tapos pinatranslate ko siya in English and Bisaya. Para talagang alam na alam ko yung meaning,” she said.

[I have Mandarin coaches there as well as here in the Philippines. So when I got back, I also have one here. Then I asked them to translate it in English and in the Visayan dialect. So I’ll know exactly what the song means.]

The talented singer managed to deliver the emotions of the song in just two weeks of learning the language.
