- Mayor Sara endorses Bong Go for senator
- The younger Duterte praised Go’s loyalty and experience having worked with his father for years
- Go thanked Inday Sara and said the Dutertes are his inspiration
MANILA, Philippines – Despite uncertainty on his rumored Senate run in 2019, Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go still got the nod from Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.
Speaking to ABS-CBN News, Inday Sara said she knew Go since she was young and praised the man’s loyalty to the President whom he worked for for many years now.
“We all know ang experience ni Bong Go sa government. He has been with PRD from since the 1990’s kaya malaki na ang kanyang experience sa pang-gobyerno [So he has years of experience in the government],” said the younger Duterte.
Reacting to Inday Sara’s endorsement, Go said the Dutertes are his inspiration and he is grateful to the President’s daughter for her kind words.
“I am humbled by the endorsement of our beloved City Mayor Inday Sara. The Dutertes, the father, the daughter are my inspiration and the example of being a true public servant,” Go said.
However, Duterte’s closest aide maintained it is still too early to talk about politics or his plan to run for an elected position since he’s still undecided.
Nevertheless he thanked the presidential daughter for the endorsement of his perceived candidacy.
Earlier, Inday Sara also endorsed PCOO Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson and Deputy Speaker andTaguig Rep. Pia Cayetano as potential female senatorial candidates in 2019.
The feisty mayor’s name itself has been floated as a senatorial bet but Inday Sara said she has no interest in running for a national position and would rather opt to seek a Lower House seat.
