- Force Comm’UNE, a French organization, encourages people to hang their spare clothes outdoors so the homeless can use them
- The idea was started in Canada and in Turkey
A French organization is urging people to hang their spare clothes in the street so homeless people can use them instead.
According to St.Lucia Times, the organization, Force Comm’UNE, with the campaign name ‘Hang up your clothes!’ started the activity in Cergy; a city to the northwest of Paris.
Warm clothing like jumpers and scarves are put on hangers, covered in a waterproof cover and often tagged with a note explaining that they’re for people in need. “I’m not lost, I’m for you if you’re cold”, is one of the typical messages left on the labels.
The idea was started in Canada and Turkey, and has since spread to England.
Force Comm’UNE is not stopping the project this summer and instead they encourage communities to follow their example.
