Another Filipina brought home some “Pinoy Pride” action when she won the top prize at the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu World Tournament in London.

Filipina Brazilian Jiu-jitsu specialist Margarita “Meggie” Ochoa bagged the gold medal when she represented ATOS Jiu Jitsu. She beat four other Purple Belts to take home the top prize in the Female Adult 49KG division.

The 28-year-old grappler emerged victorious when she beat Indonesia’s Fransisca Nelson in just over five minutes.

Ochoa was quoted by Inquirer saying, “I just talk to God on every fight and He was the one who fought for me out there.”

This isn’t the first time Ochoa brought home a medal for the country.

Aside from bringing home various jiu-jitsu honors from all over the world, she is a three-time International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) world champion.

Aside from Ochoa, two other Filipinas also brought home medals in the tournament. Kaila Napolis finished second in the Femal Adult 55KG Purple Belt division, while Annie Ramirez went as far in the Female Adult 62KG Purple Belt division.
