Filipina teen receives standing ovation, chosen to be part of Ireland’s Got Talent

A Pinay teen made her family and the nation proud as she was chosen to be part of the reality talent contest, Ireland’s Got Talent.

Shania Rollo, a 13-year-old Filipina teen secured a spot in the semifinals with her rendition of Cyndi Lauper’s song titled ‘True Colors’. During her audition, the judges were so impressed they gave her a standing ovation.

In an interview with ABS-CBN, Rollo shared her disbelief in achieving such a huge achievement. She thanked her supporters from the Philippines, from Ireland, from the rest of the world and offered her latest success to God. She added that she didn’t want to disappoint any of them.

“Hindi po talaga ako makapaniwala na nakapasok po ako dahil napaka-huge achievement po ito at nagpapasalamat po ako sa mga supporters ko po sa Pilipinas at sa Ireland at sa buong mundo at kay God. Ayaw ko pong ma-disappoint sila,” Rollo said.

[I could not believe I was able to make it because this is such a huge achievement and I am grateful to all my supporters from the Philippines, from Ireland and the rest of the world; as well as to God. I don’t want to disappoint them.]

The teen singer revealed she idolizes a lot singers both local and foreigners, including Lea Salonga, Yeng Constantino, Sam Concepcion, Ariana Grande, Whitney Houston, and Tori Kelly.

She is now part of the 24 semifinalists who were chosen out of more than 7,000 auditionees.
