An inspiring former paralyzed contestant, who was told he would never be able to walk again, has touched the hearts of the judges during an American Idol audition.
On Facebook, American Idol’s verified page shared the audition video of 25-years-old Knoxville singer-songwriter David Francisco who was hit by a car and had a spinal cord injury that left him paralyzed in April 27, 2016.
“All of America is crying rn [right now],” read the caption of the video.
Francisco told his story to judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie.
“When they told me that I was paralyzed from the waist down, I thought everything was over. Music is over. Relationships are over. I cried every single day for months,” Francisco shared.
“And then I’m in bed one night, and I see my foot move just a little. Within the next two to three months, I had a lot of improvement. And that continued until today,” he continued.
He also shared how such accident led him to his true love, his wife Christie, who joined him at the audition.
“I’ve lost my poise. I’m watching her (Christie) and like… how in love she is, I’m just losing it,” said Perry.
After his performance, Richie and Bryan hugged Francisco.
“You are an inspiration to us all. I want you to be very proud of yourself,” said Richie.
An inspiration indeed, Francisco wowed the judges with his talent and made it to the next level of the competition. Watch:
