- Shelter director Erin Buckmaster said: “Thank you everyone for sharing and donating!”
Illinois – Armchair donations started pouring in for shelter dogs after a video from the animal shelter asking for it went viral and gained positive response from the community members.
On Monday, as per People, Knox County Humane Society in Galesburg posted a footage of three dogs feeling relaxed in their big, cozy furniture and captioned it, “The shelter pets absolutely love their chairs! If anyone has any older chairs they no longer want, please think of the shelter pets!”
Two days after the video that went viral was uploaded, donations came in as shared in another video from the animal shelter.
“We have had so many chairs donated this morning! Thank you everyone for sharing and donating! The shelter pets send many licks and purrs of thanks!!” the caption states.
According to a FOX News story, the idea started from one dog, Buster Brown, who kept sitting in one of the shelter’s chair.
Erin Buckmaster, the shelter’s director, said the dog loved the chair and they wanted the other dogs to experience the same joy so they made an experiment — and other dogs love it and feel more relaxed too; leading them to seek donations.
The shelter houses about 50 dogs and 50 cats at a time.
