A teen from Boracay will soon compete in the Youth Olympic Games III in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Seventeen-year-old Christian Tio passed the Asian qualifiers in Pranburi, Thailand and earned a ticket to compete in the Youth Olympic Games this October.
During the Asian qualifiers, Tio competed in Paknampran Beach against kitesurfers from the Philippines, China, Thailand, Australia, and New Zealand for 5 days.
Tio shared that it was his dream to compete in the Olympics. He told ABS-CBN, “It’s been a goal to get to the Olympics and we’ve been waiting for kiting to get into the ‘Games for some time.”
The teen from Boracay also added that he will do his best to bring home some ‘Pinoy Pride.’ Tio said, “So it feels pretty good to qualify and have the honor of representing my country. Now I’m in, I’ll do my best to win it.”
