41st World’s Strongest Man is headed to the Philippines

  • The Philippines will be a venue for an international sports event again
  • The 41st World’s Strongest Man will be held in various places in the country
  • It is a top-rated show in UK and US that features challenges that include pulling of an airplane or a truck and many others

The popular strongman competition, World’s Strongest Man will be held in Manila, Philippines starting on April 28 until May 6, 2018.

The competition began in 1977 and has been a top-rated show in the United Kingdom and the United States.

The Department of Tourism hopes the event will be able to help highlight the country as destination for sports events.

The DOT Undersecretary, Kat de Castro, shared with Abante Tonite that there will be more than 30 contestants who will compete in over 16 events.

Some of the expected challenges include pulling of a truck or an airplane, carrying of a refrigerator and an Atlas stone weighing over 1,000 pounds.

The 9-day event will be held in various places in the country, including Intramuros, Corregidor Island, Davao City and Coron Island, Palawan.
