- Senator Panfilo Lacson expressed his disbelief that former President Benigno Aquino III is capable of graft and corruption
- He tweeted that his personal belief was based on his experiences with the former president
- Richard Gordon recommended the filing of graft charges vs Aquino and several others over the Dengvaxia mess
Senator Panfilo Lacson expressed his disbelief over the filing of graft case against former President Benigno Aquino III.
On his Twitter account, Lacson said that based on his personal experience with Aquino, it makes it hard for him to believe the allegations.
He tweeted, “Having worked closely with ex-PNoy (Aquino) both in the Senate and Malacañang, it is difficult for me to believe that he was capable of committing graft and corruption.”
It can be recalled that during the Aquino administration, Lacson was appointed as Yolanda rehabilitation czar.
This came after Blue Ribbon chairman Senator Richard Gordon, submitted a draft committee report tagging Aquino, former Budget secretary Florencio Abad, former Health secretary Janette Garin, and other officials as “primary conspirators” over the Dengvaxia mess.
They were all recommended to be charged with graft and violation of the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.
Lacson, however, clarified his tweet, stating that it’s only his personal belief.
He was quoted by GMA as saying, “What I’m invoking is my personal belief based on personal experiences about the former president having worked with him both in the Senate and in the executive.”
Having worked closely with ex-Pnoy both in the Senate and Malacañang, it is difficult for me to believe that he was capable of committing graft and corruption.
