Public warned about ‘good Samaritans’ offering assistance to Dengvaxia vaccinees

The public and local governments units were told not to accommodate those who claim to extend assistance to Dengvaxia vaccinees.

“Department of Health (DOH) – CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) Regional Director Eduardo C. Janairo today warned the public and local government units not to accommodate or entertain any individual, agency or institution claiming to extend assistance to Dengvaxia Vaccinees,” the DOH-CALABARZON said in a statement.

It said there were “good Samaritans” requesting dengue kits for students of Malakaban.

“It has come to the knowledge of the regional office that a certain group of individuals claiming as good Samaritans wanting to extend help to vaccinees are requesting assistance and dengue kits to be given to students of Malakaban, Binagonan, Rizal,” it stated.

“We wish to inform the public that there are no such children suffering from any complication against Dengvaxia in the area. Such unscrupulous demands will not be entertained, allowed, tolerated nor given support of any kind,” it added.

The regional office also advised people on what to do if they encounter such individuals.

“If there will be any individual or group making false moves must be resisted and reported immediately to the Department of Health Task Force with Telephone Numbers (02) 711-1001 to 02; Smart (0920) 110-7498; Globe (0917) 0915- 7725621,” it noted.

“We are directly in contact with parent leaders of these children and currently in the process of extending health and medical assistance to them. As for those undertaking and planning any fraudulent exercise regarding the Dengvaxia issue, we are warning them to stop immediately and not to predate on children. We will apply the full force of the law once you are discovered,” it further stated.
