Actor and councilor Roderick Paulate has been charged with graft and falsification charges by the Office of the Ombudsman for hiring ‘ghost employees’ back in 2010.
Paulate, with his driver Vicente Bajamunde, conspired to falsify the Quezon City’s payroll and made it appear that they hired employees for contractual employment, “when in truth and in fact, they did not participate in the said acts, ” as quoted by ABS-CBN. Bajamunde was responsible for picking up the ‘ghost employees’ salaries using the authorization letter signed by Paulate.
The Ombudsman’s report added that Paulate and Bajamunde’s act caused “undue injury to the Quezon City government in the total amount of P1,109,000”, from August to November 2010.
Paulate faces one count of graft and 9 counts of falsification of public documents. He is recommended to pay a total bail bond of P246,000 while his accomplice, Bajamunde, faces a total of P30,000 bail bond.
