Troops assault terrorists’ lair, 5 BIFF members nabbed

Five members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighter (BIFF) were nabbed by government soldiers during a raid in their commander’s lair in Barangay Tual, Datu Paglat town in Maguindanao on Friday, April 13.

As per Sun Star, the Philippine National Police Special Action Force and the Philippine Army’s 1st Mechanized Infantry Battalion assaulted the lair of Sindatok “Motolite” Dilna, a sub-leader of the BIFF faction under the Commander Gani Saligan.

The raiding team, according to Lt. Col. Harold Cabunoc, was supported by armored vehicles and artillery weaponry from 7th Field Artillery Battalion.

Five BIFF members under Dilna were arrested. Dilna, the target of the operation, was not among them. Soldiers seized three firearms consisting of one cal. Armalite Assault Rifle and two M1911A1 Cal. 45 pistols.

“They did not resist arrest upon seeing that they were overwhelmed by our forces,” Cabunoc said.

The suspects were brought to the 33rd Infantry Battalion headquarters for questioning.
