- Julie narrated how she proved herself by finishing her studies while pursuing a showbiz career
Asia’s Pop Sweetheart Julie Anne San Jose disclosed via a GMA News story that her dad wanted her to quit showbiz after PopStar Kids.
“Hindi ko po ine-expect na makakapasok po ako ng auditions, makakapasa po ako sa mga screen tests namin hanggang sa umabot po ako sa grand finals. After nung finals, my Dad told me oh tama na ‘yan, itigil mo na ‘yan.”
[I didn’t expect to enter the audition, to pass the screen tests, ’til reaching grand finals. After the finals, he told me to stop.]
“Hindi naman po eksakto ‘yung situation pero ‘yung dad ko po kasi ayaw niya po talaga ako na narito sa showbiz,” she said in a media conference as she likens her real-life story to the character she’s portraying in the upcoming Kapuso soap My Guitar Princess.
[Not in the exact situation but my dad does not want me in showbiz.]
The reason for her dad going against her showbiz career, she said, was because he wanted her to finish her studies and he does not like intrigues.
Julie apparently proved herself by fulfilling her promise to him — to study while pursuing a showbiz career.
“Even though sinabi ko sa sarili ko parang ang hirap niyang pagsabayin, but eventually, I managed to do it, I managed to finish it,” the actress said.
[Even though I told myself that it seems hard, I eventually managed to finish.]
Aside from having a family member who’s against a career in the entertainment industry, her relationship with music adds to the similarities between her and Celine Raymundo; her role in the soap.
My Guitar Princess is set to premiere on May 7 replacing Ang Forever Ko’y Ikaw in the Kapuso network’s noontime line-up, to air before Eat Bulaga!.
