After a report from Asian entertainment website KDramaStars.com on Tuesday alleged that "a Japanese production team affiliated with Legacy Effects have been seen exploring for locations in the Philippines," the rumor gained momentum.
Filipino Gundam fans are hoping that their country will appear in a live-action huge robots film, often known as a "mecha" or "mech" movie after Manila made a very brief appearance in the 2013 blockbuster Pacific Rim.
For Gundam fans, the rumored collaboration between the Hollywood VFX team and Gundam creator Yoshiyuki Tomino earlier this year provided a hint that the robot anime may receive a big-screen adaptation. On January 21, Tomino declared that they would be working together on an animated project with no known working title.
“„My career thus far has basically been working in television anime. I considered remaking a past work for the first project. However, since we have not cleared all the rights, I won’t be able to tell you. If I could talk about it here, I think you can imagine what kind of work will be made.- Tomino
Yoshiyuki Tomino and Legacy Effects, meanwhile, have said nothing about the purported Gundam project.
