TEXAS- It’s been two years since the East Texas residents encountered stolen lingerie, and this week, the so-called ‘panty burglar’ is back in the neighborhood.
Pete Maskunas, Angelina County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant, said that the latest burglary was on Tuesday, and alarmed residents when they learned that the thief had stolen even an underwear that belonged. to a 5-year old.
Authorities believe that they are dealing with somebody with a fetish. “We take burglaries very serious, especially when it seems to have a sexual-related [aspect] such as this Because of the sexual nature of the items stolen, it really ups the ante for us. We are dealing with someone who has a fetish and a perversion, and with the juvenile underwear taken, we are really quite concerned.” Maskunas told a local newspaper The Lufkin Daily News.
He added that the incidents happened in broad daylight on a main road. The authorities concluded that the suspect they are looking for will probably blend-in in the area. They advice the residents to be aware of anything going on at daytime when neighbors leave for work. “Keep an eye open for anything suspicious in nature,” he added.
Greg Sanchez, County Sheriff, stated that two years ago, almost a dozen homes in different counties have been broken into which only lingerie were reported stolen by this thief.
They said they have been working overtime on this issue hoping that one day, they will solve this kind of crime. They even asked the public to cooperate with them. “If you know the owner of a house is not at home and you see someone in the yard or around the house, get a vehicle description, a make and model or license plate number and immediately call law enforcement. Even if we have to go out on a lot of false alarms, eventually we are going to roll up on something and catch someone,” he said.
