ZAMBOANGA CITY – One can tell times are really hard when robbers would not spare even the lowly paid teachers as victims.
That is exactly what happened in Zamboanga del Norte when unidentified armed suspects held up three teachers right inside an elementary school in Barangay Candelaria in Liloy town at around 4 p.m. on Friday.
Police said the still unnamed suspects robbed Candelaria Elementary School teachers Abdulnilda Ahil Lintua, 35, June Estrada Vallejo, 25, and Luzbella Salapa Recentes, 47.
Police probers said the victims were inside one of the classrooms when the suspects barged into the room and demanded money at gunpoint.
The suspects proceeded to take the victims’ money and personal belongings, including pieces of jewelry, cellular phones and identification cards.
They even stole a motorcycle owned by one of the teachers and used it to escape.
Nine students who witnessed the daring robbery were traumatized and are now undergoing counseling.
