MANILA, Philippines – Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz has said there are plenty of job vacancies, but qualified applicants were lacking.

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) recently released a paper containing a list of most in-demand but hard-to-fill-up jobs in the Philippines.

An in-demand occupation refers to job vacancies that are recurrently needed to be filled up by establishments and industries. It also has a high turnover or replacement rate.

Meanwhile, a hard-to-fill occupation is a job vacancy that the company has difficulty in filling mainly because job applicants are not qualified or there is no supply of job applicants.

The other reasons that make it hard for employers to fill these occupations vacancies are: qualified applicants prefer to work abroad where they can earn more or they have problems with work schedules or location.
