Cecil Chao, a 77-year-old Hong Kong tycoon, once again offered a huge amount to any man who could win his daughter’s heart.
But here’s the catch: His daughter apparently is attracted to women and is currently having a female lover for nine years whom reports said she married in France.
But same-sex marriages are not recognized in Hong Kong.
It can be recalled that Chao initially offered $65 million (HK$500 million) two years ago, which attracted 20,000 male suitors in line. All of them, however, failed.
Lately he doubled the bid to $130 million, Malaysian financial publications reported.
Reports said that Chao prefers his daughter to marry a man, but he is not forcing her to do it.
“But obviously I would, from my point of view, prefer her to be married and to have grandchildren,” Chao stated. “I don’t want to interfere with my daughter’s private life. I only hope for her to have a good marriage and children as well as inherit my business.”
According to his 33-year-old daughter Gigi: “I don’t think my dad’s offering of any amount of money would be able to attract a man I would find attractive. I would be happy to befriend any man willing to donate huge amounts of money to my charity Faith in Love, provided they don’t mind that I already have a wife.”
“Thank you Daddy, I love you too,” she told her father.
She understands that his father is just doing this to show his love for her, though she had asked him to stop announcing the reward to the press.
Meanwhile, there are reports that the famous British movie maker Sacha Baron Cohen is making a film that is based on this story.
