5 Dead, 45 Wounded as Two Buses Crash in Camarines Sur

Barely a week after the bus tragedy that killed 15 people in Bontoc town in Mt. Province, two passenger buses crashed in a deadly road accident in Mambolo Nuevo, Libmanan, Camarines Sur. 

According to reports, five people were killed and 45 others badly wounded when an Elavil Bus and an Antonina Bus Line struck each other around 1 a.m. on Sunday.

The exact details of the road accident are yet to be determined as authorities are currently still investigating the road accident.

Meanwhile, a formal criminal case has been formally filed against GV Florida Bus Company in connection with the accident involving one of their buses in Barangay Talubin, Bontoc town in Mt. Province last February 7.

The accident killed 15 people after the bus fell into a 150-meter ravine that early morning. One of those killed in the tragedy was comedian Arvin “Tado” Jimenez. The Bontoc Police filed reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide and multiple physical injuries against the bus company and its driver, Edgar Renon.

The police filed the case against the company at Mt. Province Provincial Prosecutor’s Office at around 5:45 Tuesday afternoon. The police based the charges on the testimonies of the survivors and others who witnessed the deadly bus crash. Due to the accident, the Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) ordered a 30-day preventive suspension to all the 228 units of Florida Transport Inc.
