It seems that the family members of those involved in the pork barrel scam cannot help but brag about their wealth.
Earlier today, website Manila Speak posted photographs grabbed from the now deactivated Instagram account of Joseph Luis Ejercito, also known as Jolo Estrada, son of Senator Jinggoy Estrada. Estrada is currently detained at Camp Crame for supposedly gaining P183 million in kickbacks from his Priority Assistance Development Fund.
The website, which has crashed due to the number of viewers trying to access their report, said they encountered Jolo’s posts after the pork barrel scam and the subsequent lavish lifestyle of Jeane Napoles was exposed. Jeane, the 23-year-old daughter of Janet Lim-Napoles, used to maintain a blog that showed her preference for designer shoes worth as much as Php175,000.
Cavite Congresswoman Lani Mercado, wife of Senator Ramon Bong Revilla Jr., was also slammed by several bloggers for her taste for luxury bags and diamond jewels.
One of Jolo’s posts showed a photo collage of the swimming pool, dining area and the bedroom of the Presidential Suite in Manila Hotel and was captioned with “for the weekend.”
A stay at the suite costs around US$2,500 or around Php100,000 a night.
Another photograph showed Jolo wearing Louis Vuitton shoes.
It seems that the Monte Carlo moccasins are a favorite of Jolo as his other LV shoes were featured in a 2013 magazine shoot. A Monte Carlo costs US$645 or roughly Php25,000.
Jolo also showed his diplomatic passport in one of his posts. According to Republic Act 8239 or the Philippine Passport Act of 1996, spouses and unmarried minor children of the members of Congress can be issued with a diplomatic passport if they are accompanying the official in his travel. Based on his Weebly account, the 21-year-old Jolo has traveled to different countries that include Maldives, Japan, Spain, and Italy.
As of this afternoon, the social media accounts of Jolo in Facebook and Twitter has been deactivated or turned private.
