MANILA, Philippines – A couple who are still grieving over the d***h of their child were shocked to deal with another blow when a funeral service took the casket with body of their son last Monday because of an unpaid balance.

Hadji Rieta of GMA News reported on GMA’s Unang Balita, that on Monday afternoon, the funeral parlor took the remains of Jonard Pinoch from a wake located in Sampaloc district, Manila under the pretense that the corpse will be re-treated. However, the body of the boy wasn’t returned.

Pinocho, only 7, died because of drowning in an estero during the heavy rains last June 27.

Annabelle Guisangue, the kid’s mother told the reporter,”Ang sinabi, pinipiga po ako ng sampung libo, wala talaga kasi nangangalakal lang po ako.”

(“They were forcing ten thousand from me, I didn’t have that much because I only trade recyclables.”)

According to report, the funeral service claims that the family still owes them a balance of P14, 000, but the family could not raise enough money to pay up, as Guisangue’s partner works only as a jeep barker.

Furthermore, Jonard’s uncle Junjun Rosales narrated, “Ayaw pumayag, sir eh. Gusto talaga cash … hirap na hirap ako mangalakal ngayon, lalo ngayon umuulan na,” when asked if they tried to settle things with the funeral parlor.

(“Sir, they refused. They want cash; it’s really hard for me to trade recyclables, as it the rainy season.”)

Manila vice Mayor Francisco Domagoso, who is known as the actor Isko Moreno, came into the rescue and went to the area around 1 am on Tuesday, after learning what happened.

Domagoso called the funeral service and offered to settle the account. However, the vice mayor also said that the city health service may check if the funeral parlor has the proper permits.

Few hours later, by 3 am Tuesday, the boy’s remains and casket were returned to the wake venue. Reports said that the boy will be buried at the Manila North Cemetery on Wednesday.
