Thirty gorgeous women competed in the 2014 Mutya ng Pilipinas, vying for the title during the coronation night held at the Solaire Ballroom in Solaire Resort and Casino in Pasay City on Friday, August 8.

Cebu City’s Eva Psychee Patalinjug was crowned as Mutya ng Pilipinas – Asia Pacific International, Cordillera’s Gleniffer Perido was Mutya ng Pilipinas – Tourism International, and Milan community’s Patrizia Bosco was Mutya ng Pilipinas-Overseas Communities.

Olongapo City’s Cristine Racel won 1st runner-up while Australia community’s Kim Fyfe was 2nd runner-up.

The pageant’s Top Ten was comprised of Eva Psychee Patalinjug, Gleniffer Perido, Kim Fyfe, Cristine Racel, Pauline Edralin, Ma. Jackielyn Dulay, Alexandra Faith Garcia, Patrizia Bosco, Christina De Vries, and Dorina Doerr, in no particular order.

Aside from winning the Mutya ng Pilipinas – Asia Pacific International title, Eva Psychee Patalinjug also got the following special awards: Mutya Viva Discovery, Mutya ng Solaire, Designers Competition, and Best in Swimsuit.

Christina De Vries received the Mutya ng Pilipinas Choice Award while Glennifer Perido was the Best in Long Gown.  Dorina Doerr was chosen as Miss Photogenic.  Jackielyn Dulay was Mutya ng Pilipinas Tourism while Pauline Edralin was picked as Miss Friendship.

The special awards were already announced in separate occasions during pre-pageant activities held at the Sheridan Resort in Palawan, and in Nueva Ecija, said a report on Rappler.

Established in 1965, Mutya ng Pilipinas is associated with Miss Asia Pacific International, Miss Tourism International, and Miss Tourism Queen of the Year.  According to the pageant committee, it promotes “Beauty Tourism” within Asia and West Pacific.

Overseas Filipino Communities have direct participation in this pageant, with one winning title especially set for this: the Mutya ng Pilipinas-Overseas Communities, won by Patrizia Bosco this year.

To date, the pageant has produced a number of international pageant winners, including a Beauty of the World crown, 2 Tourism Queen of the Year International titles, 3 Miss Tourism International crowns, and 4 Miss Asia Pacific winners, according to an article on Wikipedia.
