An all-girl Korean pop group member died in a car crash early Wednesday morning in South Korea while two other members of the singing group are in critical condition. The girls were headed back to Seoul after a performance in Daegu.
Twenty-two-year old EunB of K-pop group Ladies’ Code suffered serious injuries when the driver of the van they were on lost control of the vehicle due to wet and slippery road on Yeongdon Expressway near Yongin, Gyeonggi Province at around 1: 32 a.m.
EunB, whose real name was Koh-Eun-bi, was immediately taken to the nearby St. Vincent’s Hospital but died despite efforts to save her.
Initial reports have it that the van spun several times after one of its rear wheels fell off and then the vehicle crashed onto a protective wall. The unidentified driver was also k****d in the car crash.
In critical condition are two other members of the group, 20-year-old Lee Sojung and 23-year-old Kwon Risae known respectively as So Jung and RiSe.
The other members of Ladies’ Code, Ashley and Zuny, were given treatment at the hospital for minor injuries. The group’s road manager, stylist and staff who were also in the van sustained minor injuries.
The Ladies’ Code was formed in 2013. Three of its members were already popular prior to the formation of the group. Ashley, the group’s leader, used to be an internet sensation who uploaded dance covers of popular K-pop songs to YouTube.
So Jung, the main vocalist of the group, was a finalist in Korea’s version of The Voice while RiSE gained popularity on a similar talent show called Birth of a Great Star.
Fans of the group took to social media to pay tribute to the group. The hashtag #RipEunB trended on Twitter after the news of the car crash and EunB’s d***h spread on the internet.
