A 9News (formerly Solar News) vehicle tries to go against the flow of traffic in a one way street, prompting one driver to stop his own vehicle to bar the car from passing. The Daily Pedia reports that Dora Lulab Dorado, whose real name is Jose Dorado, posted a Facebook status accompanied by a video of the confrontation.
When he and a companion saw the counterflowing vehicle, they shouted for it to move away because the street was only open to one way traffic. The 9News car continued to move against the flow of traffic, so Dorado barred its way.
He went out of the vehicle, with the camera at the ready to record the incident. He informed the 9News driver that they were on a one-way street, but was told that the driver knows about this but wants to be allowed to pass through because they were in a hurry.
The media man, who was not named in the video, insisted they should be let through because they were flashing their hazard lights. Dorado countered that the car is breaking a traffic law, adding that flashing the hazard lights does not give one the right to break the law, such as counterflowing.
He also lectured the media man that they should have gotten up early so they won’t be late in going to wherever they were planning to go.
It was reported on NewsGraph that the incident happened on a no-left/no-entry road at UP Diliman – Tandang Sora / Old Balara Gate last Tuesday morning, September 16.
A passenger inside the 9News vehicle was also videotaping the encounter using a smartphone.
After the altercation, Dorado posted the video, adding this description:
The video quickly became viral, with people bashing the media man for pushing the issue. The post already has over 9,000 shares, as of writing.
Although many were angry at the media man for trying to break the law, there were also those who reminded Dorado that several people have already died because of traffic altercations such as the one in the video.
There were also those who said that any kind of vehicle can become an emergency vehicle, so he should have just let it pass through, instead of trying to make a big deal out of the situation.
