Be the “Happiest Pinoy” and win 1 million pesos

MANILA, Philippines – The nationwide Search for the Happiest Pinoy, which aims to rekindle the values of optimism, resilience, and hope in Filipinos amidst different life crises, is back to give recognition to the ones who embody the positive image of the Filipinos.

“With our Search for the Happiest Pinoy, we want to recognize outstanding Filipinos who are able to both rise above life’s challenges and positively impact the lives of other people with their positive outlook in life,” said Michael Sena, head of Cebuana Lhuillier’s Integrated Marketing Communications Group.

The search is sponsored by Cebuana Lhuillier, as part of their commitment to provide consumer happiness and further promoting positivity. Cebuana Lhuillier highlights the positive things that come with obtaining quality and affordable microfinancial security, peace of mind, and ultimately, happiness.

The search is inspired by the Gross National Happiness Index coined by Bhutan King Jigme Singye Wangchuck. The company wants to “stress the importance of non-economic aspects of well-being in sustainable development of the country.”

The search is open to Filipino public aged 18 years old to nominate Filipinos of the same age who, which have good moral character and have lived with optimism despite trials in life. Deadline for submissions of nominations will be until March 31, 2015 while winners will be announced June 2015.

The criteria for judging the qualified happy Filipinos will be 30 percent for positive outlook in life, 35 percent for proven ability to rise above life’s challenges, and 35 percent for positive impact on the lives of others.

Nominees will be screened by a committee, which are composed of PJ Lhuillier Group of Companies officers and managers. The committee will be responsible to determine the Top 20 semi-finalists.

During the semi-finals, the Top 20 will be forwarded to the board of judges who will then identify the Top 10 finalists. As for the last part of the contest, the remaining 10 candidates will undergo a panel interview.

Sun Star reported that aside from the 2015 Happiest Pinoy, Cebuana Lhuillier will also give special awards including the Happiest Student Award and Happiest Overseas Filipino Worker Award.

Rules of the search clarified that the happiest OFW may be nominated by anyone while the happiest student will be selected from nominations made by school organizations from the different colleges and universities.

One million pesos awaits the Happiest Pinoy grand winner while the nine runners-up will have P50, 000 each. Special awardees will also receive P25,000 each.

To anyone who want to nominate, forms are available from the more than 1,700 Cebuana Lhuillier’s branches nationwide.
